Large travel companies Tui, Apollo and Ving, as well as retailer Ticket, bear witness to the trend.
– We see very clearly that it is connected with the positive news when it comes to vaccines. It makes people dare to book. It’s still from very low levels, but it’s a positive trend breakout, Michael Kapil, Ticket’s marketing manager, tells TV4.
Last week, travel companies Tui and Ving had almost twice as many bookings as the previous week. Above all, it is the summer trips to the Mediterranean countries that are now booked.
Compared to a normal year, Ticket has also booked more than 60 percent more winter trips for next year. These are mainly long trips to, for example, Thailand, the Caribbean and Florida.
– There is a great pent-up need. At the same time, you do not really dare to book a trip, for example, to Thailand or the US where you are not allowed to enter, nearby. So customers make sure they have foresight, because they know they want to take a trip at some point in the year, says Michael Kapil, on TV4.
