Poromaa is the best Swede, despite the lost ski

William Poromaa got off to a strong start in the classic part and after the ski change came eight, seven seconds behind a Sjur Røthe.

Then came the loss for the 20-year-old, a real one. Poromaa hadn’t put on his ski correctly and dropped it, which cost him precious seconds.

– I immediately felt that it was something strange and when I looked down it was half open. When I reached down and screwed it in, it stuck out, there and then there was panic, he tells SVT.

Did not give up

From seven seconds behind, Poromaa was a full minute behind, three miles later.

But Poromaa did not give up.

It is true that the Swede was far from being the leader, but he recovered several positions. The 20-year-old finished ninth, the best of all Swedes. The second best Swede was Jens Burman in eleventh place.

– I continue the war and join the group and have a shot in the top ten. Then there is nothing else, says Poromaa.

Alexander Bolshunov won, leading a group of seven skiers who slipped away with ten kilometers remaining. Among other things, five Norwegians sniffed at Bolshunov, but no one could beat him.

Bolshunov finished as number one undisturbed before Simen Hegstad Krüger and Hans Christer Holund.

Halfvarsson broke

One that weighed heavily was Halfvarsson Street. The 31-year-old had no tension at all and broke the race.

Then he was really shattered.

– I think so. This was a bit difficult. The idea was that I would complete this race even if it was difficult. But it is too harsh. My head hurts too, it’s crazy, he says.
