LISBON. Guilty of the losing goal against Croatia, involved in several of the setbacks against Portugal.

Last night, 29-year-old Pontus Jansson gave his opinion on his own performance.

– I can look at it and analyze it.

In the 2-1 win in the international training match against Russia a week ago, Janne Andersson gave Carl Starfelt and Sebastian Holmén a chance.

In the Nations League away games against Croatia, 1-2, and Portugal, 0-3, Victor Nilsson Lindelöf and Pontus Jansson formed central blocks.

Participate in all three goals

The latter was responsible for the losing goal in Zagreb and was involved in all three setbacks last night at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon.

How do you feel after the effort?

– It is sad to lose the game, it is a collective sport. Collective defensive play worked well in two home games, says Pontus Jansson.

– So we try to be a little higher than we normally do against these countries, and this time we try the same, but we do not achieve it in the same way.

What would you like to change in your own efforts?

– No clue. I have to look at it and analyze it, says the Brentford defender.

The IC More broadcast was former national team players Kim Källström and Erik Edman criticizing many players, especially against Jansson’s effort on Diogo Jota’s 2-0 goal just before the break.

– Sweden stops and sleeps there, Pontus Jansson is not in control behind his back and Mikael Lustig does not communicate. Pontus Jansson doesn’t look behind him even once, Källström said.

– Jota appears behind him. Pontus Jansson is not in control, he watches the ball and then runs to the back of the surface between Pontus Jansson and Micke Lustig, Edman said.

“You must not drop the ball”

Mikael Lustig, who also had a dark night, believes that defense problems are due to shortcomings going forward.

– When you go so far forward against the best counterattack in the world then we must not lose the ball so much and we must finish the attacks more. So we shouldn’t be so naive, says the AIK player.

Pontus Jansson:

– It is incredibly heavy and sad that we have lost four games in a row in the Nations League.

– We give Portugal, which is one of the best teams in the world, counterattack after counterattack. It is not optimal. They need a position and that is why they score goals.

– With today’s result, we could have adjusted it, been a little lower and retained on these surfaces. It is up to Janne Andersson and Peter Wettergren to choose which path we should take, says Jansson.
