Although President Donald Trump’s chances of being re-elected appear very small, he continues to question the outcome of the election.
– Trump has lost the election and is now fighting. What’s happening is close to thoughts of a coup attempt on his part to retain power, Karin Nelsson, opinion expert and CEO of analytics firm Demoskop, tells Aftonbladet.
Sofia Näsström, a political science professor, also writes in DN Debatt that what we are currently witnessing in the United States is precisely an attempted coup.
“Coups can take place with the help of the military, but also with the support of lawyers. What we are currently witnessing in the United States is a textbook example of today’s softer coups, ”he writes, adding that for a long time we are used to viewing coups as a sudden and violent takeover of the state, but that they don’t always look like this.
“They are carried out by incumbent presidents and governments, not just by rivals.”
