Police were attacked with rockets in Trollhättan for the second night in a row

At 0026 on Tuesday evening, the police stopped a stolen car at Lantmannavägen in Kronogården. The three people in the car managed to flee the scene but a group of threatening people quickly gathered.

– There was an atmosphere of threat and rockets were fired at the police officers. We had to call several police patrols to calm the situation. No one was hit or injured by the rockets, thankfully, says Peter Adlersson, a press spokesman for the police in the western region.

The situation calmed down then down. A 25-year-old man on a moped was searched and the moped turned out to be stolen. He is suspected of possessing means of subsistence and driving drugs.

Two people were arrested at the scene of the riots.

– Another person was removed from the scene. We chased away the person who had to go back on their own, says Peter Adlersson.

– It is usually the people who live in the areas who do this. But there are also many adults who call and want to help us.

Several patrols were sent also on Sunday night to Kronogården in Trollhättan, after youth gangs fired firecrackers and rockets at stairs and balconies. Once on the scene, the police themselves were bombarded with fireworks and forced to call in reinforcements.

The classic rockets on a stick, the so-called pilot rockets, have been banned since 2019 without a special permit. Firecrackers with a loud bang as the main effect are also prohibited. Other types of joystickless fireworks can be tampered with without permission. But you must be 18 years or older to buy fireworks and manipulate them in an urban setting before New Year’s Eve, normally a permit from the police is required.

– There seem to be as many rockets as you want and you order online, says Peter Adlersson.
