The alarm about the sabotage against the Västberga police house was received shortly after 01.30 on Sunday night. According to information from Expressen, three exterior windows of the building were broken.
– We do not comment on what was destroyed, but there has been damage to the facade, says Eva Nilsson, press spokeswoman for the Stockholm Police.
A suspect could be arrested at the scene.
– He is a detainee and detained after being questioned. He is suspected of vandalism, blue light sabotage and violation of the Protection Law because the police booth is a protected object, he continues.
Three police cars sabotaged in Södermalm
Saturday night I was worried in other places too. In Södermalm, Stockholm, three police cars were sabotaged. Two of the cars had their tires slashed while the third had its rearview mirror removed.
– In one of the cases with the rear-view mirror, he’s suspicious. Frustration at the time was probably the reason, because the police had closed a party at a house that had become too noisy. Then some young people did not like it and one of them was observed when he kicked the rear view mirror, says Viktor Adolphson, external commander of Södermalm.
The other cars were sabotaged because they were parked outside the taverns. All cases are classified as blue light sabotage.
Viktor Adolphson reacts strongly to the sabotage against police cars. When the police need to change cars, there is a risk that other expressions will be delayed. It can be anything from robbery alarms to cardiac arrests they suffer, he says.
– There are others who are affected and who pay taxes for it. It goes on everyone’s tax bill.
“Criminals want to fight back”
The events of the night came after a Saturday morning detonation in the stairwell of an apartment building in Uppsala. Police suspect that the act was directed at a police employee who lives there.
Adolphson argues that the recent crackdown on criminal groups may be a cause of attacks on the police.
– I do not think that the damage to police cars has to do with that, but in other cases it is not unthinkable. Criminals want to fight back, he says and continues:
– It’s a harsh climate for us. This also leaves its mark on events, such as threats and violence.
