It was at 23 o’clock on Saturday night that the police were alerted to a major riot at Exportgatan in Hisingen.
– They alert us to the address where there are a large number of people involved in a dispute, says Magnus Nordqvist, duty officer in the West police region.
Multiple units are shipped to the site. Once at the scene, one of the policemen is attacked by an armed perpetrator.
– During the operation, it is a policeman who is attacked by an assailant with a knife. He is injured and taken to hospital by ambulance, says Magnus Nordqvist.
Young man arrested
The police officer must be seriously injured, but the injuries must not be life-threatening. At the moment, Magnus Nordqvist does not want to go any further into the place where the policeman was stabbed.
A man in his 20s could be arrested directly at the scene.
– We have also seized a knife, says Magnus Nordqvist.
During the night, the police worked with technical investigative measures and, among other things, conducted a crime scene investigation at the home.
The incident is classified as an aggravated assault and will be further investigated by the aggravated crimes section of the police.
