The seizures of explosives by the Jönköping police this week were massive and several people have been arrested. The attacks have occurred in various places in the area by various police groups, police said in a press release.

– If this had ended up in the wrong hands, it could have had great consequences. We have seen several serious explosions in our region and other parts of Sweden and when this type of violence is resorted to, there is a great risk of major damage, says Malena Grann, head of the Jönköping police area in the press release.

The preliminary investigation that has been initiated is classified as a serious infraction of the law on flammable and explosive goods, preparation for general destruction and a serious crime with weapons.

The arrest of three people is requested

Prosecutors now leading the preliminary investigation have requested the arrest of three people.

– Within the police, it is important and a high priority to work against illegal weapons and explosives. This case is part of the local work against this. Through this crackdown, we have been able to prevent these explosives from being used in criminal circles, says Malena Grann, in the press release.

Otherwise, the police cannot come out with more details with reference to the ongoing investigation. But they are happy with the result of the effort.

– Our work has paid off when we have been able to make such a large explosives seizure. But now the research continues, with which we will actively work, so we have a hard time going into more detail at this point, says Malena Grann.
