A major police operation is currently underway at a youth home in Kalix.

Two men with similar weapons are said to have cut through a fence and entered the area.

– The police have surrounded the entire area, says a witness.

The operation began shortly after 2:00 p.m.

The road to the youth home is blocked and both the police and the ambulance are on the scene. A witness at the scene claims that there are between 30 and 40 police officers there.

According to information from Aftonbladet, it is suspected that it is a release attempt.

– What we know is that unauthorized persons must have entered the area. But we haven’t found them, says Marie Andersson, RLC communicator in the police force.

Trapped staff

Sources tell Aftonbladet that people entered by making a hole in the fence. According to the alarm, one of them must have had a weapon-like object.

Currently, staff are confined to the accommodation and are not allowed to leave the premises.

Police are now searching for the suspects with various patrol cars, dog patrols and drones. They classify the incident as a trespassing.

Police ask for comments

At around 6 p.m., there were 7-8 police cars at the scene, according to a witness.

– They have surrounded the entire area and are monitoring all entrances, says the witness.

The police now want advice from the public.

“If you have made or are making any observations of people who do not appear to be residents of the area, call the police on the telephone number 112,” the police write on their website at 5:20 p.m.

According to NSD, the police prevented an attempt to release a person convicted of murder in August last year.
