After the police received several indications that the street fights, the organized fights, would take place in an industrial premises in Älvängen on Saturday, the police began an operation at the site, which GT was the first to report.

Morten Gunneng, an officer on duty for the police in the west region, tells GP that around 200 people are in the industrial facilities where people have gathered to fight.

– It’s some form of fighting that has been arranged. A more advanced form of MMA, he says. There may have been a little more than 200 people in the place.

The police think they have a good idea who organized the event.

– They themselves say it was to record a commercial. But we really haven’t believed that explanation, says Morten Gunneng.

Despite the large number of people at the site, along the river near Fabriksgatan, the police have assessed that it was not a public event. Therefore, it cannot be stopped with the help of the law of order.

– We cannot intervene according to the law of order. The public does not have access here, it is a closed company and then the law does not apply, says Morten Gunneng.

On the other hand, the Police have prepared an illicit intrusion report because the premises itself is an abandoned industrial premises in the municipality.

– It’s basically a locked room that they entered.

“The area is quite dangerous”

Despite this, the police are unable to expel people from the scene. Above all, it is due to reasons of the police working environment at the scene.

– In part the number is too large, there are too many on the site, in part the area is quite dangerous with sharp objects, barbed wire, it is completely dark on the site, and also the building is not stable.

Morten Gunneng claims that the police have had contact with some of those involved who did not want to cooperate.

Several patrols in place during the night.

The fact that people may be injured in connection with the activity at the location does not have to be a valid reason for the police to stop the event.

– Even if the violence is more than a normal fight, you can consent to a certain limit of abuse according to the Penal Code. So you may have different opinions on when this limit is reached, he says.

– We knew this was going to happen, but we cannot act in advance.
