Fredrik Gårdare, head of the sports crime police action group, has led several investigations into suspected match-fixing in football in recent years.

Monday’s match at Allsvenskan Hockey between Björklöven and Mora is now being investigated for match-fixing, both by Svenska Spel and the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.

– What we do now is receive information from those affected, said the competition director of the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, Olof Östblom. Express the present day.

When HockeyNews.se reaches the police, Fredrik Gårdare has yet to receive a report of yesterday’s incident. But it confirms that they received information about the match.

– We are informed. Hockey has a very good security organization that is used to all forms of unauthorized influence. They do an initial assessment and then we get a picture of the situation so we can form an opinion on the incident, if there are suspicions now, he says.

Have you seen the game after?

– No, I haven’t done that.

Do you have a dialogue with the Swedish Ice Hockey Association about the incident?

– We have such good cooperation with all the major unions that we basically have daily contact. Of course we have a contact with the union in this case, then we will see what it leads to.

Otherwise, hockey has been spared match-fixing and only a few cases have been discovered in recent years. Therefore, he was surprised when the match between Björklöven and Mora aroused suspicions.

– Yes actually. We have a directed effort against criminal networks that have entered the sport with match-fixing. There we do not see that there is any interest in hockey, but all the interest is and has been around football, he says.

Can you act before a report is received?

– Yes. The thing about the report is just a classic police report that is written on a normal typewriter. The police themselves can act on the basis of the information we have, there is nothing to stop them.

Do you have plans to initiate an investigation into this match?

– We don’t have any plans. Unfortunately, this is completely normal for us. We have these types of suspicions and investigations of gambling fraud, bribery, threats or extortion in a constant and uniform way in the effort we make for the good of the sport. It is a priority effort based on an agreement with the Chief of the National Police and the National Sports Association, and there we have already had a complete match arrangement.
