Stefan Hector, Rimfrost National Commander, opens the press conference. It presents statistics on shootings and explosions in recent months.
– The number of fires and deaths is almost the same as in previous years, he says.
Stefan Hector describes the violence in Sweden.
– There is a strong expectation in criminal networks. If you have a tolerant attitude, you will be demoted, you just expect violence, he says.
Stefan Hector says that the purpose of Operation Rimfrost is to deal with crime rather than solve it.
– There are some problems that cannot be solved but can be solved. Crime is considered a tough problem. Crime will always exist. The initiative aims to treat the problem rather than solve it, it is a realistic approach, says Stefan Hector.
– I dare say that we have avoided violent crime, it is a summary of the initiative at the national level, he says.
Stefan Sintéus takes charge and tells about the operation at the regional level.
First he talks about crime statistics for the southern region.
– Last year there were 18 shots, of which four died. This year, there were four shootings in Malmö and two people died, says Stefan Sintéus.
Stefan Sintéus says that large amounts of cannabis and cocaine have been found in Malmö. He says that cocaine abuse is even less compared to other cities in Europe.
Now he talks about the security survey that was conducted between February 27 and April 15. The survey was sent to 16,800 people, of which 57.7 percent responded. The security measure applies to five municipalities in Skåne, Malmö, Helsingborg, Hässleholm, Landskrona and Kristianstad.
– The image of the problem has decreased. It is positive for us, we feel that we have been successful since we are now on the same level with 2015, before we received the wave of explosions, says Stefan Sintéus.
– In Malmö in general, the problems have decreased, we are at the same level as in 2015. Vulnerability is as low as 20 years ago. We want to improve our work in the factory and the people’s park, says Stefan Sintéus.
Although the trend is positive and security is increasing, many people still feel insecure at night in Malmö, says Stefan Sintéus.
Rimfrost is a nationally run police operation. It is carried out in all police regions. In Malmö it has been running since November, and is now coming to an end. The operation is scheduled to end this summer.
