On Wednesday at 11 o’clock there was an alleged bomb attack on Hagakliniken at Första Långgatan in Gothenburg. It is still unknown what detonated, but the explosion took place inside a toilet.
Two people were injured, a woman in her 85s and a woman in her 40s. For the older woman, the injury situation is serious but stable, and for the younger woman, the injuries are minor.
Wednesday’s attack is the second in just three weeks in the same direction.
On October 20, there was an explosion at the entrance of the building where Hagakliniken is based. According to information from GT, the clinic was under police surveillance at the beginning of the year due to a threat against a person linked to the clinic.
Chief of Police: Very serious
No alleged perpetrator has yet been arrested.
According to information from GT, the police have a photo of a suspect, a masked man, who is seen entering the health center in the surveillance footage.
– It’s an ongoing criminal investigation and I can’t tell you much. But we know more than the public knows at the moment, I can tell, says Erik Nord, chief of police in Gothenburg.
How can a person do this in broad daylight and still be at large?
– We’ll probably fix this. We have the conditions to classify parts of the crime that are the basis of this. It is a very serious crime, but we are doing what we can in the investigation.
This is the second attack on the leadership in a month. Are you afraid that the aggressor will attack again?
– It is clear that certain conclusions can be drawn from such circumstances. But now it is important that the investigation looks at whether the investigations are connected and what may happen in the future. Then we will see what we can do.
Difficult to Investigate Crimes
Erik Nord also believes that these types of crimes are difficult to investigate.
– The perpetrator is far from the explosion itself and much of the evidence is destroyed in an explosion. But very few can make difficult-to-build bombs, and then we generally know who they are, says Erik Nord.
This year alone, there have been seven explosions in Gothenburg.
– It’s a good way for criminals to scare people and they don’t need to be in your place. It is also a way to get away from crime, when you are not in the place, says Erik Nord and continues:
– But these are dangerous crimes and the perpetrators have no control over who is on the scene. Anyone can iron.
