Police appeal to parents: drunkenness at car rallies

The Trollhättan City Field Unit has sounded the alarm and urged parents to speak with their children about the situation in the Överby car park on weekends. On their Facebook page, they wrote:

“We want to draw attention to all the important adults and parents in the risky environment that arises in the Överby car park many weekends. This risky environment arises as a result of many, both young and old, joining planned car meetings in Överby ”.

– On a sunny weekend afternoon, there may be more than 1,000 people in the room. Those who worry us are the young people who gather in the place. We hang out with parents and adults because they are the best preventatives in young people’s lives, Field Secretary Magda Augustsson previously told Ttela.

High alcohol poisoning

In addition, he warned that there is a lot of alcohol in circulation and that there is an increased risk of violence and crime.

Now the local police agree with the call to the guards.

– Recently, there has been a very high alcohol intoxication. It is at a level that we have not seen in previous years. The car hits have changed character, says Victor Prästbacka, a municipal policeman in Trollhättan, to Ttela.

Meetings in the car park sometimes begin even before the shops in the area have had time to close, something that Prästbacka describes as “disrespectful” to both the shop owners and their customers.

Chief of Police: “It requires a lot of resources”

Police are often forced to devote large resources to controlling car accidents.

Lars Eckerdal, acting chief of police in Fyrbodal, tells Ttela:

– I would have liked it to stop, many resources are needed at the same time that it is not a completely safe environment for young people. We need the help of parents and guardians.
