“This is a sad day for us in Polarbröd. We do not see any other solution at the moment ”.

That’s what the CEO says Karin Bodin in a press release where it appears that the 131 collective employees are notified of the layoff after last week’s fire that engulfed the entire Polarbröd factory in Älvsbyn.

After the fatal fire, 58 temporary and part-time employees lost their jobs in Polarbröd. And now the management makes an even more dramatic decision and justifies it with the fact that it takes an estimated two years to install a new bakery.

Polarbröd also has a bakery in Bredbyn and 20 people will be offered jobs there, in addition, 20 others will be offered jobs when Polarbröd’s planned sandwich production begins in Älvsbyn.

To some extent, notified employees may also be offered a job solution at Omne Bröd in Nordingrå, which is said to bake bread for Polarbröd.

Just hours before Polarbröd opened a new production line at the Älvsbyn factory, in which the company had invested SEK 150 million, the fierce fire broke out.
