The contestants of “Much Better” on TV4 dive into and explore the 1980s. The problem for Tommy Körberg, 72, and Plura Jonsson, 69, is that they don’t remember much of the decade.
But at least Körberg remembers the moment he was in custody.
– I remember in points. I can attest to that. In the 80s, I started with three weeks here on Gotland in prison. I think it was a good start, he says on the show.
Plura and Tommy Körberg remember in “Much better”
“A great tangle,” he calls it. When, among others, Markus Krunegård, 41, pressures him, he reveals what it was about.
– It was cocaine. It was a bloody web of cocaine.
Tommy Körberg believes that what happened then belongs to the past.
– I have lived an enlightened life, so to speak. There were many covers there. But it wasn’t me, it was someone else.
The singer says they were taken into custody on Gotland to give peace and quiet to the investigation. A large contingent of media went to the island. An Expressen brochure with the title “Famous Singer Arrested for Selling Cocaine in Stockholm” is shown on the show.
– It was a hell of a hello. The blinds had to be closed. They hung from the streetlights and tried to carry letters to the shed, he says.
“Much has been sacrificed”
Drugs were in Tommy Körberg’s life in the late 1970s and into the early 1980s. According to him, it took “a while” to get out of it.
On the show, try to include Plura Jonsson in the discussion.
– I thought of you Plura, we are almost the same age, says Körberg.
– Why me? I have done nothing, says Plura.
Tommy Körberg unfolds as his eyes water. Hilarious humor turns serious.
– We’ve been through that. It is related to having this desperate desire to be on stage. Much has been sacrificed to achieve this.
He performs the Plura song “Poisoned Blood.” And when Tommy Körberg sings, it is Plura Jonsson who cannot hold back the tears.
Afterward, they take all the gang members away.
“Be on all the time”
Plura tells why the song is so important to him and awakens such strong feelings.
– I was on the whole time. Wow, it says on the show.
– Since the first time you went on stage and were bitten by this. The blood is poisoned. You poison yourself with a lot of alcohol and drugs, just to be able to continue.
– This damn profession you’ve chosen.
