Jordan Pickford violently kidnapped Virgil van Dijk during Saturday’s game.

The Liverpool midfielder will be out of the game for several months.

But the Everton goalkeeper will not be penalized in hindsight.

It was early in the game between Everton and Liverpool that Virgil van Dijk had to leave the field injured. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford came out late and kidnapped Van Dijk, not close to a ball. Due to a hairy offside, which was found after a VAR test, the Englishman escaped with only a reprimand.

Subsequently, there were significant discussions about Pickford’s punishment for the act in hindsight, as it was deemed very serious. But that will not be the case.

No penalties

The situation was examined in the VAR room during the match and they chose not to distribute any punishment. According to the rules regarding video review, a reviewed situation cannot be subsequently punished. Therefore, there will be no penalties for Pickford.

Liverpool later confirmed that van Dijk injured his cruciate ligament. Now it will be operated and will be out of service for several months.
