Photos of Murdered Woman Stolen from District Court | Crimea

The incident occurred on Friday of last week. At the time, district court staff had produced a file of the file that a person had asked to see. Visitors who wish to view documents sit in a room that is directly adjacent to the reception where the archive staff works.

– They have some supervision over visitors. We go through our routines to prevent something similar from happening again. The preliminary research protocol itself has no economic value and is therefore probably quite an arbitrary procedure, says Lennart Strinäs.

Files and documents are released after they have been classified. In this case, it was the murder of a woman. The murder happened about 23 years ago. Today, among other things, autopsy images are classified and only shown behind closed doors during trials. Therefore, the public can no longer participate in that material in preliminary investigations.

Sensitive images

But at that time, before the spread of images on the Internet became commonplace, sensitive images did not become confidential.

– The autopsy images were shown during the trial and there is no confidentiality in the verdict either, which means that the public has the right to participate in the images, says Lennart Strinäs.

When archive staff discovered that the person had left the visiting room, they realized that documents were missing.

– Parts of the preliminary investigation disappeared. A police report has been made, says Lennart Strinäs.

It is not clear who took the documents. Anyone visiting a district court, for example, and asking to see documents doesn’t need to show identification. However, there are video cameras in various places on the court.

Subsequently, the district court was able to reinstate the parts of the preliminary investigation that disappeared. The police authority keeps copies of the preliminary investigations.
