Persson: “It’s a clear punishment”

Nabil Bahoui put a knee to Gustaf Norlin’s back in his own penalty area in extra time. Penalty fee? Varberg’s coach, Joakim Persson, was confident: – It is a clear punishment that they robbed us, but we are used to it.

Varberg pressed hard in the quest for a tie after Henok Goitom’s 1-0 for AIK at Friends Arena. The opportunity to reach an important point came when Norlin fell in the duel, but referee Andreas Ekberg acquitted him.

Persson was very upset on Varberg’s bench, and he really hadn’t calmed down just in time for the press conference.

But when asked if he wanted to develop what he considered a robbery, he refused.

– Absolutely not, then I’ll get the entire judiciary behind me. We’ve tried this once and it didn’t turn out that well, says Persson.

AIK coach Bartosz Grzelak, who celebrated his birthday with three points, wanted to watch the match later to correctly interpret the situation.

– It feels like a penny in those situations whether there will be a penalty or not. “Jocke” seems very convinced, but I have not seen it in hindsight, but it is a collision, says Grzelak.

Henok Goitom also doesn’t want to swear that the referee did the right thing that he didn’t blow in Varberg’s favor.

– You can blow, you cannot blow. “Nabbe” makes him smart, in his company he clings, but it’s hard to tell, says Henok.

Varberg is winless in the last seven Allsvenskan matches and may be involved in the battle of the tail.

Joakim Persson:

– We are not the ones who put ourselves in this situation, this is the fourth game in which I think we get very hard things.

– We have met Norrköping, Elfsborg and AIK, not Oskarshamn, Västerås and Norrby. It’s a long series, we measure ourselves in terms of performance with the best clubs. It’s hard to stand up to us, but lately we’ve been losing the spark.

Criticism at the level of the Allsvenskan referees has been massive during the season.

Varberg’s forward Astrit Selmani believes a solution could be for referees to be suspended for too serious errors.

– It seems that after every match someone comes out and complains to the referee at this point and it starts to get a bit difficult, Selmani tells TV 4 Fotbollskanalen and continues:

– Or you have to do like in Italy and punish the judges with suspension or leave it at that. If a referee makes four or five bad games in a row, it may be time to turn him off. But it is not for me to decide. In the end, we are still the ones to do it on the field and we don’t do it well enough, he says.
