Finance Minister Per Bolund and Culture Minister Amanda Lind (MP) have presented the Government’s investments in culture in the budget for 2021. This implies a total of SEK 3.4 billion, of which SEK 1 billion for the next year.
Bolund admitted that the investments made earlier were not enough.
– It is obvious that culture continues to be greatly affected by the consequences of the pandemic and the restrictions that prevail.
Investing in infectious events
Amanda Lind listed several areas that will receive a supplement through the new budget investments. Among other things, the money will go to museums, cinemas, theaters and municipal cultural schools. The government also wants support to go to infection control plus cultural events.
– We are working on the law of order issue to get a little more audience, but that would mean big overheads and that is why it is very important for us to come out with this billion-dollar reboot now, says Amanda Lind.
The government is also investing SEK 80 million in strengthening the working conditions of cultural workers.
Jimmie Åkesson seemed uncomfortable for the parliamentary debate.
