Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr’s injury was worse than feared.
The IFK Gothenburg star has now undergone surgery and will be out for a long time.
– The goal is for “Paka” to return to the autumn season of 2021, says the physical therapist of the club Calle Persson.
It was at the end of the first half of Sunday’s match against Örebro that Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr resigned feeling injured.
Now it is clear that the injury was worse than feared. IFK Gothenburg writes on its website that the midfielder has been forced to undergo surgery and will now be out for a longer period of time.
– At present, it is difficult to pin down exactly how long rehab will be required, but the goal is for Paka to return for the fall season of 2021, says the club’s physical therapist, Calle Persson.
“New difficult times”
However, the club does not want to say what the damage is.
– Now a new difficult moment begins for Paka and we will help him in any way we can. We ask everyone to respect Pakas’s situation and that the media do not contact him for interviews. Together, we will do it step by step and we will be there for him all the way, says sporting director Pontus Farnerud on the IFK Gothenburg website.
Karlsson Lagemyr has had two serious knee injuries and a cruciate ligament injury until last summer. The star was back when the Allsvenskan started in June and has played all 25 matches so far, 23 of which from the start.
– It was very nice and I really hope it lasts. You don’t want much jinxa, but it’s felt good all along. You have to try to see the positive aspects even if the season has been as it has been, he told GP before the game against Örebro.
