Discrimination based on age, ethnic origin or disability: The Ombudsman Against Discrimination (DO) has received some 60 reports of clues about discrimination related to the pandemic, reports Swedish radio.
– There are people who have experienced that the recommendations issued by the Swedish Public Health Agency have been discriminatory, says Clas Lundstedt, DO’s press officer, to Good Morning World in P1 and gives examples:
– They can be people who, for example, have asthma and allergies who feel that they have been disadvantaged and treated differently because they have been suspected of being ill, although, according to them, it has been their asthma and allergies.
Fernando Germond Corrêa de Alvesta is one of those who has turned to DO. He describes himself as a healthy 70-year-old man who has never been on sick leave.
– I do not recognize myself in how the Public Health Agency describes people in their 70s. I am offended and then I have the right to report, he tells the radio.
