Robert Sundqvist became part of the club in the spring and has been the driving force behind the investment in the youth academy. On Friday he was present when ÖFK presented a new investment in the organization’s women’s team.
Later on Friday, Robert Sundqvist was killed in a traffic accident on the outskirts of Ånge. He turned 52 and left a wife and children.
– Robert was a very close colleague of mine. I can describe him as tireless and determined. With a love for the club that cannot be described, says the CEO of ÖFK.
Michael Schahine is remarkably enthralled, pausing to find the words, to try to explain how missed Robert Sundqvist will be.
– It was the engine and brain behind our investment in the academy and the women’s team that has happened in the last few days. It will be difficult to fill the void left by Robert.
Head of the Academy seriously injured
Also involved in the accident was ÖFK’s new academy director, Stefan Lundin, who started his job just a week ago. He is currently being treated for serious injuries at the Uppsala academic hospital.
– The board will meet soon to process and discuss this.
“Our focus is on the Roberts and Stefan family right now, it’s the most important thing,” says Michael Schahine.
Östersund will play the Malmö FF match on Sunday with mourning bands.
