Oskarshamn fell for the 13th consecutive game.
They lost their two-goal lead and fell to Växjö.
Oskarshamn now has thirteen losses in a row and is on his way to a new baseline record.
– It’s bullshit. It feels really bitter, says Oskarshamn forward Markus Modigs.
During last year’s season, Oskarshamn went 14 rounds without winning a single match. Thus, they hit the lowest Väsby record from 1987 to 1988.
After Monday night’s 2-3 loss (after penalties), which was the team’s thirteenth in a row, the Smålanders are about to hit the same dismal figure again.
However, it was home team Oskarshamn, who after a goalless first period, opened the scoring in the middle of the night after Markus Modig’s projectile on the roof of the net behind Viktor Fasth.
Five minutes later, it also came 2-0 after Södertälje loan officer Nick Olesen carefully steered the raise.
“Pang bom”
But as in the last two games, Oskarshamn lost its 2-0 lead. According to the Twitter account domarna.se it is the first time since (at least) the 1999-2000 season that an SHL team has accomplished this “feat.”
After two goals from Växjö in the last period, the match went into extra time. Extra time was goalless, but on the ensuing penalty shoot-out Växjö showed an impressive penalty shoot-out in which he scored on all three attempts, while Oskarshamn only managed one goal.
After the match, Oskarshamn striker Markus Modigs was disappointed.
– It’s bullshit. It feels very bitter. We have a pretty good hockey game. He feels sad that he is not being paid better then, he tells Sportbladet, 28.
It feels like I’m in control before third period …
– I agree with that. The second period is really good on our part. But in the third, they start to put a little more puck in the depth, as it bounces their way. Pang bom then bids 2-2.
How come you lose a two-goal lead again?
– I don’t know … in the other games it has collapsed, but today it is not a race. But that is not good. If I had any solution for that, I would have put it on the table.
And now a little Christmas break awaits you.
– Yes, it feels good to go on vacation, but it would have been better with three clubs in your luggage. We managed to return with a lot of energy. We will turn this around, says Markus Modigs.
Växjö climbs to third place in the SHL, three points behind the Rögle table, following tonight’s victory on penalties.
