Former Norwegian Justice Minister Tor Mikkel Wara during the trial of his partner, suspected of faking political attacks.
Cohabitating former Norwegian Justice Minister Tor Mikkel Wara appeared in court on suspicion of falsifying politically motivated crimes against his partner.
Among other things, the partner is suspected of setting fire to the couple’s car and painting a swastika and writing “racist” on their joint home. He is also suspected of sending threatening letters and packages to the former minister’s party colleagues.
The alleged staged crimes were initially attributed to the anti-racist theater group Black Box.
– The aim was to make it appear that someone from the theater company, or one of its followers, was behind the actions, said prosecutor Marit Formo on the first day of the trial.
Former minister Tor Mikkel Wara represented the populist right-wing Progress Party (FRP). His partner was arrested on suspicion of faking the attacks against him in March 2019, shortly after the arrest, Wara left his post indefinitely.
The former minister’s partner now runs the risk of up to 16 years in prison, among other things for having made false criminal complaints. The partner himself denies all charges.
