One person was killed in a collision with a passenger train in Lindås, near Emmaboda. The accident occurred at a railroad crossing, where the car was run over for unknown reasons.
– We are on the scene and investigating this and before it is clear we cannot say how the accident happened, says press officer Jimmy Modin at the police command center for the South region.
You don’t know if the car was stationary or moving at the time of the collision. Håkan Andersson, an alarm operator at the Kalmar alarm and security center, tells local media that the wagon was towed by the train for about 100 meters and is now wedged under the locomotive.
Jimmy Modin has no information that any passenger on the train has been injured. According to the Swedish Transport Administration, as a result of the accident, there will be a stop in train traffic for the remainder of Friday.
