On the thirteenth day the auction begins at Auktionsverket in Karlstad, consisting of a large collection of works by the popular artist Lars Lerin.
In total, there are 100 paintings, 99 of which come from a west coast collector, connected to Värmland. The entire auction will take place online.
Auctioneer Peter Pettersson says this is something he has dreamed of throughout his career.
– It feels unreal, he tells Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.
Auction can it will be the largest auction in Värmland’s history, he says. The sum amounts to 12.5 million SEK when it comes to the selling prices of everything to be sold. This includes everything from Lars Lerin’s art to jewelry, furniture, and porcelain.
Peter Pettersson saw several of the artworks for the first time when he visited the collector while he was still alive. Then only ten paintings hung on the collector’s walls.
Several years later, in early 2020, the man’s sons contacted the Karlstad Auction House. Peter Pettersson then recalls how surprised he was at how the collection had grown.
– I went in and they started producing bunches of watercolors. “What is this?” I said and just screamed, it was great, he tells Nya Wermlands-Tidningen.
But it was until a few weeks ago before the conversation about the assignment to auction off the 99 works of art.
Plus of the works in the collection were created during the 70s, 80s and 90s. Among them are watercolors, gouache, woodcuts, oils and drawings. The sizes of the works vary.
But even later, in 2021, more of the collector’s work is expected to appear during a spring auction, says Peter Pettersson, who has followed the artist personally for a long time.
– The art of Lars Lerin is very easy to like. Those who like the modern like Lerin, but also those who like the classic. Then there is his personality, he is kind and friendly. Who doesn’t like Lars Lerin?
Among the works auctioned during the thirteenth day are also paintings by the Vietnamese artist Búi Xuan Phái, Anders Zornm and a statue by the Dutch-Swedish artist Herman Reijers.
