Earlier this summer, an 80-year-old woman was stabbed in the middle of the Halland summer idyll.
Now a person has been arrested on suspicion of the crime.
– We were able to arrest him after getting tips from the public, says local police area chief Christer Bartholdsson.
On July 18, an 80-year-old woman was stabbed by a stranger on a bicycle in Falkenberg. Since then, the police have been searching for an alleged perpetrator.
One person could be detained, but was released shortly after. Now the police have made a breakthrough in the investigation.

A man arrested
A few weeks ago, the police received leads from the public about a person who could be interesting in the investigation, and on Monday a man born in 1996 could be arrested.
“We have advanced with the reconnaissance and witness information and managed to build a chain of clues that was sufficient to reasonably suspect him,” says local police area chief Christer Bartholdsson.
The man was easily arrested outside his home in Falkenberg and was arrested by prosecutors on Monday.
– Exactly what these tips consisted of, I can’t go into that. But the description of him as a person and the things he has expressed made him interesting for our research, says Christer Bartholdsson.
A house search was carried out at the man’s home and the police made a number of findings that could be interesting.
– Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like CSI actually. We will look at our findings and it may take some time and see if these findings can move us forward in research, says Bartholdsson.
In connection with the crime, the police issued information that they were looking for a small car in connection with the investigation, according to Christer Bartholdsson, that car has already been found.
– Yes, it is this man’s car we were looking for, he says.

Unprovoked violence
The man who is now reasonably suspected of the attempted murder has no connections to the woman in her 80s who was stabbed.
– Our main hypothesis was that it was completely unprovoked violence. There doesn’t seem to be any motive against this specific woman, but this seems to have happened, says Christer Bartholdsson.
According to him, the 80-year-old should feel good regardless of the circumstances.
– He still has injuries. But she appears to be an incredibly strong person who has been able to rise up after this horrible event, she says.
