Official: Nygren leaves Belgium – ready for Dutch club

Former IFK Gothenburg forward Benjamin Nygren, 19, left Blåvitt last summer to play for Genk, but has since struggled playing in Belgium. Last year, Nygren scored a goal in four games with the club’s A-team and this season is notable for three appearances in league play. In the last four league games, however, he has been out of the team’s roster.

Now, instead, the Dutch team Heerenveen announces that Nygren will join the club. This is a loan that runs throughout this and next season. Heerenveen also has a purchase option included in the deal.

– We were looking for a forward, who could handle several positions. With Benjamin, we get a quality player who knows what is required at the highest level, says Heerenveen technical manager Gerry Hamstra in a comment on the club’s website.

The Swedes Ibrahim Dresevic and Rami Hajal already play in Heerenveen. Heerenveen are third in the Eredivisie after ten points from four games.
