PHILADELPHIA. Obama launched a fierce attack on President Trump last night. In his first campaign event for Joe Biden, the former US president said his successor lies, has completely failed, and treats the presidency like a reality show.
“He has shown no interest in helping anyone but himself and his friends,” Obama said.
Democrats have presented perhaps their most important weapon in the campaign to defeat Trump: Barack Obama.
During an outdoor gathering in Philadelphia, the former president of the United States addressed a gathering of specially invited supporters. About 350 cars with enthusiastic voters were parked in Citizens Bank Park, in front of one of the city’s ballparks, at midnight Swedish time.

Traditionally, former presidents don’t often comment on their successors, but Barack Obama doesn’t mince words when he talks about Trump.
“He only served himself”
Traditionally, former presidents rarely comment on their successors, but Obama did not hold back. The speech was his strongest brand so far against Trump.
– I never thought that Donald Trump would adopt my vision or continue with my policy. But I hoped, for the good of the country, that he would show some interest in taking the job seriously. It has not happened. “He has shown no interest in doing the job or helping anyone other than himself and his friends,” Obama said from the scene, adding:
– You have used the presidency as a reality show to get attention. But even his audience figures go down, so you know it bothers him. But this is not a reality show, it is reality.
Harsh criticism
The speech was a brutal deal with the incumbent president, with criticism of his policies but also with personal attacks. Several times the audience honked in agreement, and several Biden supporters waved flags as the sun set.
Obama also wholly cut back on the current administration’s handling of the coronavirus, saying Trump couldn’t protect the American people at all.
– You can barely protect yourself. If he had worked all the time, it would never have been so bad, Obama said.

There were about 350 cars in Citizens Bank Park when Obama spoke.
“Tweeting doesn’t fix things”
Additionally, he referred to Trump’s Twitter habits and said he retweeted conspiracy theories.
– Tweeting on television does not fix things. Inventing things doesn’t make it better. You must have a plan. We literally presented a pandemic action plan to the White House. They probably used it to support an unstable table somewhere, Obama said.
He also spoke about the New York Times reports in recent days, which are about Trump having a secret bank account in China.
– How is that possible? Can you imagine if I had a secret bank account in China when I tried to get re-elected? Do you think Fox News might have been a little concerned? They had called me “Beijing-Barry,” the former president said, shaking his head.

Ty and Donna Jenkins, along with their granddaughter, were pleased with Obama’s speech, but they didn’t think he was “hitting” Trump as hard as they expected.
“I didn’t hit as hard as I expected”
Obama also said that, after all, he managed to keep hope for the past four years.
– I’m angry. I have been frustrated, but I have not lost hope, and the reason is that I never expected progress to be direct.
Outside the gates, Ty and Donna Jenkins of Philadelphia, 57, were waiting with their granddaughter. They were pleased with Obama’s speech overnight, thought it had a good message, and pressed all the important points.
– But he didn’t hit Trump as hard as he hoped. It could have put even more pressure on him, says Ty Jenkins, who previously volunteered for both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
“Obama is the key”
Four years ago, it didn’t help Democrats that Obama campaigned the last night before Election Day in Philadelphia. Because Jenkins was there that time too and felt the magic in the air, he says. When Hillary Clinton lost, she was on the verge of falling into a depression.
But this time, he believes Obama’s presence in Pennsylvania, the crucial state of the surge, could excite more Democrats.
– Absolutely. Obama is the key, I think. It can inspire more people, especially African Americans, to vote. Hillary took the state for granted, says Ty Jenkins.
Obama ended his attack speech by saying that supporters would not trust opinion polls showing Biden leading in the state. Many believe that the choice can be made in Pennsylvania and that it will be a couple.
– Not only can we imagine a better future, we must fight for it. We must vote like never before, Obama shouted.
Trump has yet to respond to his attack. And Biden will continue to use Obama in the election campaign during the election sprint: More details emerged last night on where Obama will travel next: On Saturday he will head to the master wave state of Florida.
