Nyköping: Man shot dead in Brandkärr

A man has been shot and killed near a school in Nyköping.

The police have launched a preliminary investigation into the murder.

– We still have no arrests, says Monica Bergström, police spokeswoman.

Police rushed to the Brandkärr district in Nyköping at 11:38 p.m. after a gunshot alarm.

An injured man was found near a school. The man was said to be in critical condition and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

– As I understand it, this has happened outdoors, says Monica Bergström, spokeswoman for the police in the eastern region.

Just before 03:00, the police announced that the man had died from his injuries. Family members are notified.

Cordoned off place

The crime scene has been cordoned off and will be investigated by technicians. Police with a dog patrol have searched the area.

– There are many patrols that work. We speak to people who have information to provide, says Monica Bergström.

The police are looking for one or more alleged perpetrators. At 0230 no one has been arrested yet.

The police would like to receive information about the incident of 114 14.

Special event starts

A man was also shot and killed in Eskilstuna on Thursday night. Due to the two incidents, the Sörmland police have started an alleged special incident.

“In order to create the best investigative conditions and work to create security with additional personnel in the cities that have been affected, the police have decided to initiate a special event,” the police write on their website.
