As a Christmas present in the mail, the first doses of Pfizer’s corona vaccine have already arrived in Sweden. The guards followed him to make sure the delivery arrived safely. The Swedish Public Health Agency announces that the transport has gone according to plan and that vaccination can start from Sunday.
The first delivery is enough for about 4,900 people and will be delivered to the regions over the weekend.
– It feels good that we are at this stage and that in Sweden we can offer protection against covid-19 in just a few hours. In the first stage, those in greatest need are now vaccinated, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell.
They get vaccinated first
The first to receive the vaccine are mainly people who live in special accommodation for the elderly. In Gothenburg, four nursing homes are the first to leave: Svaleboskogen, Högsbotorpshemmet, Kaverös äng and Gerdas gård.
The vaccine will be given in two doses per person and, according to the Swedish Public Health Agency, the vaccine will be replenished around the turn of the year.
