This spring, SL decided to close the front doors of all buses in SL traffic to reduce the spread of infections and protect drivers. Now the front doors open again. Norrtälje is the first to leave.
– It is very gratifying and highly anticipated to be able to take this step so that boarding and payment can be made again on the bus, says Fredrik Cavalli-Björkman, SL traffic director in a press release.
During the pandemic, SL and the operators have sought a solution to be able to open the entry doors again in an infectious way. Nobina, who operates some of the buses in SL traffic, has developed safety glass that is safe for traffic and protects against infection. Safety glasses will be gradually introduced into all SL bus traffic. On December 6, SL will begin to open the entrance gates for buses in Norrtälje.
– During a transition period, there will be a mix of buses with and without safety glass in traffic, but at present we cannot say exactly when the safety glass will arrive on a specific bus line. Therefore, it is important that you as a traveler be vigilant when the bus arrives, if the front doors open, you must get in the front, says Fredrik Cavalli-Björkman.
