Now Sivia square is empty, it will be a center in Uppsala

The last tenants moved in in August and the building is now being emptied, a first step towards turning the square into a new center in Uppsala.

– We want to harness the full potential of the site, says Fredrik Mässing, co-owner and who will lead the transformation.

According to him, the relocation has gone well, the tenants have received several offers.

But how do you see investing in hotels and conferences in the crown age, when the way people work can change with more working from home?

– When it is ready in 2024, we hope there will be a demand, says Fredrik Mässing and emphasizes that the business will complement the Uppsala concert and congress.

City Council: “The project is necessary”

Councilor Erik Pelling (S) also looks forward to the new leadership:

– This has not been a safe place today, and this project is necessary to develop Uppsala and generate new jobs.

After emptying the block, the demolition is awaited. The objective is then that the plans are based on the so-called consultations, so that the interested parties have the opportunity to give their opinion.

Fredrik Mässing cannot say how much the owners are investing in the project, but it is several hundred million crowns.
