Norwegian’s new setback: denied more state money

To overcome its declining numbers, Norwegian low-cost airline Norwegian has waited for additional support from the Norwegian state. But on Monday, the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry said no to the additional billions Norwegian requested.

Report to various media.

The airline has reacted with disappointment. CEO Jacob Schram says it’s like “a punch to the stomach”, writes E24 among other things.

Norwegian’s rescue plan

Norwegian, like all other airlines, has been hit hard by the crown crisis, with a decrease in passenger numbers and thus a drastic reduction in revenue. In the spring, new owners joined the company in connection with the implementation of a financial rescue plan and received government-guaranteed loans worth SEK 3 billion.

But that money is not enough, according to Norwegian.

The company’s management has previously said that the money will run out in the first quarter of next year, according to TT. And during a press conference on Monday, the company stressed that it faces an uncertain future.
