The Norwegian parliament, the Storting, has been the target of a major cyber attack. Several members of the Storting email accounts have been hacked.
“We take what happened very seriously and focus entirely on analyzing the situation to get a full picture of the incident and the potential damage,” says Storting Director Marianne Andreassen in a press release.
The director is the head of administrative activities for the 169-member Storting. The analyzes themselves show that different amounts of data have been downloaded in relation to hacking into the email accounts of “a small number of Storting members and employees”.
It also says that a number of steps were taken to reduce the risk immediately when the attack was discovered and that it had an effect.
The Storting is in contact with the Norwegian security authorities in this regard, who have also reported it to the police.
Norwegian security police PST claim on Twitter that they are aware of the attack.
