During January and February, Norway will receive 67,000 doses of Moderna’s corona vaccine when it is approved by the EU, confirms Swedish vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström for Norwegian VG.
The hope was that Moderna’s vaccine would be approved in the EU on Monday night, but the European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced that the decision was postponed. When approved in the EU, Norway, which is not a member of the EU, will automatically have access to the vaccine as well.
According to Bergström, Norway has a full agreement on access to 1.9 million doses.
– There are still some questions that Moderna must answer. The official schedule is still an approval on Wednesday. Attempted to be ready today, but experts are working on their questions, Bergström tells VG regarding there was no EMA message on Monday.
Norway, like many other countries, is already up and running and vaccinating people in risk groups with the corona vaccine from Pfizer and Biontech.
