On Tuesday, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health recommended changes to the travel recommendation to various areas of the Nordic region. A press release announces that Blekinge and Södermanland will now be marked in red.
Red is the highest level of infection risk on Norway’s scale. It points out that the infection in the sites exceeds 20 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks.
In Blekinge, the figure for the measurement period is 57.7 cases per 100,000, while in Södermanland the corresponding figure is 20.8 cases per 100,000.
Going into effect this weekend
The Finnish Uusimaa with the capital Helsinki will also be marked in red, according to the National Institute of Public Health.
“During the week, the government decides the type of entry quarantine that will apply to which countries and regions. The changes will take effect from midnight overnight through Saturday, October 3.“, The expert authority writes in a statement.
The recommendation now goes to the Norwegian Foreign Ministry, which will make the final decision.
New restrictions have been introduced in Oslo to reduce the spread of the infection.
