There will be no European Women’s Handball Championship in Norway in December.

Norway would have organized the championship together with Denmark.

– It is with regret that we must admit that it is not possible, says Kåre Geir Lio, president of the Norwegian Handball Association.

The Norwegian Handball Association announced on Monday morning that it will not be able to host the European Women’s Handball Championship for a few weeks.

“Due to the exhaustive evaluations of the Norwegian health authorities, as well as the clear demands and wishes of the political authorities, it is clear that Norway cannot be the organizer of the European Championship for Women’s Handball in December,” the association writes.

– We are grateful for the spirit of cooperation and common understanding that we have received from our co-organizers of the European Handball Association and the Danish Handball Association. At the same time, of course, we have to admit with great regret that this time it was not possible to organize home championships for Norway. It would have been a lot of fun, says Kåre Geir Lio.

Danish Ekstrabladet announces that Denmark is ready to take over the Norwegian matches, where Kolding can host two groups and the final round moves from Trondheim to Herning.

According to planning, the European Handball Championship will be decided from December 3 to 20.
