Norway can send team b – Ulvestad contacted

Lars Lagerbäck’s Norway has ended in crown chaos. After Omar Elabdellaoui tested positive for COVID-19 before the weekend, the entire team was quarantined and the Norwegian health authority prevented the national team from traveling to Romania. The consequence was that the League of Nations game, which should have been played on Sunday, was canceled.

The match against Austria in danger zone

Now Wednesday’s away game against Austria is also in the danger zone, as the players are trapped in quarantine. Salvation may be for Lagerbäck to call in an entirely new team with players who have already had covid-19 and then bypass the quarantine rules. In addition, they have to play team soccer outside the borders of the country. Two players who have been contacted are Elfsborg goalkeeper Mathias Dyngeland and Djurgården’s Fredrik Ulvestad.

– We have not decided yet if we will travel, so all we do now is investigate the matter. The decision will not be made before Monday, but part of the job is to sound the ground, Lisa Klaveness of the Norwegian Football Association tells VG.

The Norwegian Football Association (NFF) believes that the government prohibited them from traveling.

The parties would be illegal in Norway

– My response to the NFF is that international matches against Romania and Austria would have been illegal here in Norway and that the travel plan they presented us is in a legal gray area, Norwegian Health Minister Bent Høie said on Saturday.

Høie has been charged with abuse of power after the statement, but claims he never stopped the team from traveling.

Lagerbäck’s team plays in the second division, where they are second on the same points as the first Austria. Norway cannot exit the division regardless of whether there will be no more Nations League games.
