Earlier this week, a patient was isolated after testing positive for COVID-19. Monitoring of the infection began immediately. Since then, several cases of established infection have been discovered among both patients and staff.

– This means that the staff situation at the moment is difficult. So we switched to staff mode so we can quickly gather resources where they are needed most. We want to make sure that emergency care is not affected, says Peter Graf.

He currently has three patients found infected, one of whom is discharged and cared for at home. Approximately 15 hospital ward employees are at home with cold symptoms. Five of these were positively sampled.

Infected patients receive care in isolation. The consequence of this is that planned and non-emergency operations will be postponed.

– The big challenge at the moment is the staff situation, which means that we need to temporarily postpone planned operations so that we can focus on the most needed care, says Sune Forsberg, operations manager of medical and operational specialties at Norrtälje Hospital in a statement. press.

The hospital restraining order remains.
