Warmer weather favored Anna Nordqvist in the LPGA competition at The Colony. The Swede came up with a split lead after a 68-shot round.

Anna Nordqvist continues her good game at Old American in The Colony, Texas, strongly. Four birdies browned the second round, and had it not been for a bogey on the 18th hole, she would have risen to the lead alone.

– I handled the game well, I’m very happy, says Nordqvist in a video interview after the round.

Great for Nordqvist

Nordqvist shares the lead with American shoes Yealimi Noh and Jessica Korda. Noh, 19, had a good round of 66 shots, five under par.

– Just having this round in my luggage makes me feel very happy. It gives me much more confidence for the weekend, says Noh according to AFP.

It’s the cold in The Colony, which doesn’t suit Nordqvist. But Friday offered warmer weather than Thursday, and the forecast for the weekend looks even warmer.

– I grew up and played in cold conditions, me and all the boys from Torshälla. We used to play every Saturday and Sunday. But I haven’t done it for a long time, I’ve been in the sun for so long. My body now doesn’t work so well in the cold, I have to improve to handle it, he says and adds:

– I live in the Arizona sun, and there is a reason for that, he says.

The four with

Madelene Sagström also plays well. There were certainly three bogeys, but the round was really polished in the end.

– I played steadily all day, it was a pretty even round. I got a birdie on the seventeenth, he says in an interview after the round.

On the last par four hole, she dared to be aggressive, which was rewarded with an eagle.

– The ball went well, it happened a little, and I just “screwed”, and it started to do it. My caddy Jack said “come in”, and then he just disappeared (through the hole), she says.

The round ended in 69 strokes, which means it is divided into five. A worse hit is Linnea Ström, who is around 70 hits.

Pernilla Lindberg barely made the cut and is in a split 70th place after two rounds of 75 hits each.
