This weekend the first Swedish case of the mutated variant of the coronavirus was confirmed in Södermanland.
Infection control doctors in the region have not seen any spread since then.
The Sörmland region has seen no new cases of the mutated coronavirus since it was discovered in Sweden on Saturday, says infection control doctor Signar Mäkitalo.
– The first tests have been negative, or at least not positive. We have sampled four people who share a home with the infected person. The same people will be tested again at the beginning of the week.
The risk of a local outbreak is very small, even if it exists, he emphasizes and points out that the region closely monitors developments.
– We have had contact with the people in question several times. They claim that they completely avoid contact with other people.
The region can do little more than offer samples and urge people to be careful, he says, emphasizing that it has not seen any spread in the region.
Nor has any reports of confirmed cases from other regions reached Mäkitalo.
– When new cases are discovered, other infection control doctors are informed. I have not received such information.
