Shopping malls and shops in Denmark will be forced to close, report Danish newspapers Ekstra Bladet and BT.

The new order will be announced on Wednesday and can go into effect for shopping malls starting Thursday, according to newspaper information. After Christmas Eve, it is said to grow and apply to all of the nation’s retail trade, with the exception of grocery stores and drug stores.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will hold a press conference shortly.

On Wednesday, the increased restrictions already went into effect across Denmark, which means, among other things, that restaurants and bars must be closed. However, information from various sectors stated that there would be more precautionary measures due to the increasing spread of the infection.

The number of infected people admitted to Danish hospitals has increased rapidly in recent days. In the Copenhagen region, all non-emergency treatments and operations have been postponed so that covid patients can be prioritized.
