Players from the Swedish national team who are based in England and Scotland will not be available in the international training match against Denmark next week, due to the UK’s quarantine rules against Denmark.
This means that Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, Robin Olsen, Emil Kraft, Filip Helande and Ken Sema will join the national team meeting in Stockholm only after the match against the Danes.
– If players need to be quarantined for more than five days after the meeting of the national team, it is not necessary for the clubs to release the players. In this case, our players will not be released for the match against Denmark. However, the clubs release the players for the other two games, against Croatia and France, says national team manager Stefan Pettersson in a comment on the association’s website.
Federation captain Janne Andersson, who also misses the match as she is in covid quarantine, in a comment:
“We live in special times. Now it turned out like this and that means we will bring in some more players for the Danish game,” says Andersson.
The same applies to Denmark, who among other things hope that they will not be able to bring Premier League stars Kasper Schmeichel and Andreas Christiansen to the meeting with Sweden. Denmark’s national team captain Kasper Hjulmand has selected nine new players for the Blågult encounter.
