Josef Newgarden sticks to the title hunt at IndyCar.

Scott Dixon has the lead in IndyCar, but Josef Newgarden hasn’t given up.

The victory at Indianapolis means the reigning champion is in contention for the title with two races to go.

Felix Rosenqvist had the opportunity to get on the podium seven laps from the finish. He had a good strategy and fought for second place, but had already used all his extra speed in “pushing to pass”. This meant that he could not threaten Colton Herta who was second and could not defend himself against Alexander Rossi or Reenus Veekay.

He finished with a fifth place for Rosenqvist, which means he is tenth in the championship. His colleague Marcus Ericsson finished in 10th place.

“I had a rocket ship again”

At the helm, the fight continues between Dixon, who started the season in an impressive way and chasing Newgarden. The latter did everything right and won the race at the Indianapolis GP circuit, giving him 50 new points while Dixon, who had significantly bigger problems, finished ninth and lost 32 points to his toughest competitor.

– I got a rocket ship again, the car was fantastic, Josef Newgarden tells NBC after the race.

One in three completed

– It was a big climb from the beginning, now there is only one hill left. We said we need to have three perfect races to be successful in taking this, now we’ve done it with the first. Two remain.

This means that there is now a 40 point difference, which is less than a win, between the two multiple champions Dixon and Newgarden with two races remaining. The first of them will be decided tomorrow, Saturday in the same course, while the second will be decided in Saint Petersburg on October 25.
