New York Governor Andrew Cuomo receives an Emmy for his television appearances in connection with the first weeks of contagion this spring. The governor’s daily updates on the spread of the virus showed good leadership, according to the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the organization that awards Emmy statuettes.
During the months when New York City was something of the epicenter of the virus’s spread in the United States, Cuomo’s confidence soared to 77 percent in polls, the highest ever recorded during his tenure as governor. But as the pandemic progressed, he has come under fire for his handling of Covid-19.
