The day after Health Minister Bent Høie (H) eased restrictions in certain regions of Norway, he announces that stricter restrictions will be introduced in four municipalities.
From midnight on Monday night, the country’s toughest restrictions prevail in the municipalities of Halden, Sarpsborg, Moss and Våler in southeastern Norway. Therefore, they get the same rules that Oslo, among others, already has.
This means, among other things, that all out-of-home events are stopped and schools are closed.
The reason for the new restrictions is an outbreak at an ice rink in Halden, which has so far led to 30 confirmed cases of infection. It is not yet confirmed if it is the new “British” variant of the coronavirus.
On the other hand, this variant was confirmed in other results of the already positive tests of the municipalities in question. The new restrictions can already be relaxed on Wednesday at Moss and Våler. Other municipalities must wait until February 10 at the earliest before relief can be expected.
