The infection is rampant in Sörmland and Kronoberg.
Therefore, the regions are introducing tighter restrictions to reverse the trend.
– We know these are great sacrifices, but we do it to save lives, says Maria Arnholm, Governor of Kronoberg County.
The number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in the two counties in the last week has increased dramatically and the hospital admissions curve is increasing in the counties. Infection control doctors in both regions have viewed the development with great concern and now, together with the Swedish Public Health Agency, have decided on additional restrictions on physical contact.
The restrictions mean that residents must:
-
Avoid having physical contact with people other than those you live in. Parties and social events in all their forms should be avoided. The authority also advises against contact sports and health and beauty care that are not medically justified.
-
refrain from staying indoors such as stores, shopping malls, museums, libraries, bathrooms, and gyms. The necessary visits can be made to, for example, supermarkets and pharmacies.
-
Avoid participating, for example, in work meetings, concerts, performances, sports training, games and competitions.

We know these are great sacrifices, but we do it to save lives, says Maria Arnholm, governor of Kronoberg County.
The exceptions to the restrictions are child and youth training, then valid for children born in 2005 and later, as well as care visits and medical exams.
The decision also implies stricter advice for the workplaces and for the operations in Kronoberg and Södermanland. This applies, for example, to shops, shopping centers and sports facilities. There, the authorities want:
-
Employers take steps so that everyone can follow the general advice above.
-
Employer measures may include encouraging staff to work from home, offering greater opportunities to work from home, and postponing business trips, conferences, and other physical meetings.
When physical presence is necessary, activities should be planned to avoid congestion. Among other things, it is important to prevent too many visitors from running errands at the same time, to adapt opening hours and to offer digital alternatives.
Restrictions apply until November 26.
