The agreement applies to the years 2021-2025, reports the newspaper. According to the president of the Kristinehamn municipal board, Marie Oudin (M), it will create between four and five hundred new jobs in the municipality, says nkp.se.
The Kristinehamn regiment was disbanded in 2005 and both the buildings and the area were sold to a private company. However, the buildings and training area south of the A9 remain for the most part as before.
Durable over time
The proposal was from the beginning to place the artillery regiment at “Villingsberg / Kristinehamn”. However, in the budget documentation, the Armed Forces recommended Villingsberg in Karlskoga before Kristinehamn as a place of education.
But now it is Kristinehamn who has been chosen as the base for the regiment and the plan is long term.
– We are talking about a business that will be permanent over time, says Daniel Bäckström.
During the negotiations, it was far from obvious that Kristinehamn would get a new regiment.
– It has not been a fact, I can say. Really, says Daniel Bäckström.
Now it is just a matter of the proposal being approved by the Riksdag as well.
– As we have come this far, I consider that the conditions are good.
Convinced that Villingsberg is included
According to the chairman of the Karlskoga municipal board, Tony Ring (M), the shooting range in Villingsberg will likely also be included in the investment, and that will be clear when the information is made public on Monday.
– This is incredibly positive for the entire region. In general this is completely in line with what we wanted, says Tony Ring (M).
